Superionic conductors and protonic conductors
Research Interest
Superionic and protonic conductors, in which electrons and ions are correlated in diffusion process, have lately attracted our attention as good electrolyte materials for the fuel cell. Our research approaches are based on the analytical and numerical calculation for the mechanism of superionic conduction and protonic conduction in solids, especially the relation between electronic and protonic transfer in the chemical bonds. We have studied the electronic structure of novel metal halides and the protonic conduction of peroveskite-type oxides by using the DV-Xa method and small poralon models, respectively. Our fundamental researches are tried to apply to the proton transfer in photo-chemical reaction from the viewpoint of environmental problems.
